Ron has had a lifelong interest in exercise physiology, nutrition, and metabolism that evolved into a career in healthcare applying said concepts to managing chronic diseases. Ron has worked in a variety of settings including healthclubs, wellness centers, and hospital clinics. He spent 4 years at Kaiser Permanente working exclusively with patients with diabetes as a diabetes care manager before leaving to pursue a Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies. He has authored the articles “Exercise: A Key Component of Diabetes Management” and “Strength Training in Diabetes Management” published in the Journal Diabetes Spectrum, and prior to that had been a regular contributor to the magazine Diabetes Health (formerly Diabetes Interview). Additionally, he has been a personal trainer certified through the American Council on Exercise for over 10 years. Ron enjoys a variety of sports and activities, but strength training was his first love and it remains near and dear to his heart. His forthcoming article, “Implications and management of sarcopenia in disease and health related quality of life” is currently in press.
