Kris Osterberg
Gatorade Sports Science Institute
Osterberg is a physiology scientist with interests in hydration, substrate oxidation and metabolism. As a senior scientist at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), Osterberg conducts research related to hydration as well as fluid and electrolyte balance.
Osterberg came to GSSI from Colorado State University where she worked with Dr. Chris Melby in CSU’s Nutrition and Metabolic Fitness Laboratory. She was responsible for coordinating research into the effects of physical activity and diet on resting metabolic rate and energy balance. She was also a research dietitian for the University of Colorado where she was involved with investigating the effects of aging and physical activity on energy expenditure.
Osterberg received her bachelor of science in exercise and sport science, and master of science in human nutrition from CSU where she also competed as a member of the women’s basketball team. Osterberg has authored and co-authored several publications in scientific journals. In her spare time, she enjoys running, cycling, mountain biking and backpacking.
