We all need help to succeed in life, and success with diabetes management is no different. You deserve a team of people to surround you. You will and should be the director of your team. Diabetes Lifestyle Camp is an extremely unique program geared towards all persons with diabetes. Do you want to learn more about diabetes? Do you need to learn the simple facts on developing a healthy lifestyle that will help you take control of your health? Come experience walking and fitness programs that you CAN do. This camp is built for you! Your team is a phenomenal group of diabetes and fitness specialists, some of whom have diabetes themselves. This team understands your needs as a person with diabetes.
- The Diabetes Training Camp team will have a conversation with you (not talk to you) about the challenges that you are experiencing in managing your diabetes.
- This team will help you think through and develop simple strategies to overcome these challenges, empowering you to take control.
- We will not tell you what you need to do. You already know that. We will help you create a plan to do it!
- You will have the opportunity to learn many different choices of fitness activities that you can do, and that will help you protect your heart.
- We will help you think through how your medications, insulin, and exercise interact, and help get you off the rollercoaster of highs and lows.
- You will learn basic nutrition principles that you can implement easily and immediately to help improve your health.
- We will help you make your own action plan for success.
- You will experience the tremendous bonds of friendship and camaraderie with others who are tackling similar challenges.
- Those with newly diagnosed diabetes, as well as those who have had diabetes for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 + years.
- Those with diabetes who want to utilize lifestyle measures to control their diabetes.
- Those with diabetes that are on medications and/or insulin to help control their diabetes.
- Those with diabetes that have complications of diabetes.
- Those with diabetes that want to prevent complications of diabetes.
- People at risk for diabetes who want to learn how to prevent diabetes, especially high risk groups like women with a history of gestational diabetes or PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome).
- The important members of your team- your spouse or your family.
- Anyone who wants to understand the challenges of managing diabetes, and learn from a team that can help you overcome those challenges!
- Three days full of fun, learning, and fitness.
- Dr. Matt and his DTC staff will be there every step of the way.
- Interactive lectures and small group sessions that will empower you to make real change.
- Walking sessions each morning where you can learn how to utilize a pedometer to help you track activity and meet goals.
- Fitness sessions to sample: from spinning to yoga, to water aerobics and pilates. You will get to experience them all and find out what you enjoy.

The Fitness Experience at Lifestyle Camps:
Reach outside of your comfort zone, and try something new at our Lifestyle Camps. Our personal trainers and group exercise instructors offer a wide selection of exercise classes to help you discover activities that you will enjoy and will want to make a part of everyday life. From aquatic exercise classes, to nature walks, to basic strength training and yoga classes, you will be sure to discover your fitness passion.
Our classes are designed with the following goals in mind:
Weight Management: utilize both cardiovascular and strength training exercise to boost your metabolism for maximum caloric burn. Learn how to change the type, duration and intensity of exercise to avoid the common plateau and keep your goals on target.
Total Body Fitness: a fit body is a balanced body. Our classes focus on working muscles in proportion to one another, and developing all of the major components of fitness – cardiovascular, muscular strength, flexibility, and balance.
Decreased Pain: an active body allows for all cells of the body to receive increased circulation and nutrients. At DTC’s Lifestyle camps, you determine your own level of exertion, and work at your own pace. The opportunity to try a variety of exercise modalities will allow you to determine what works with you and your body
