A Message from Jim & Isabel Allen
It is with great excitement that we invite you to join us at the inaugural “Come Experience the Magic” fundraising event for Diabetes Training Camp Foundation. Please mark your calendars for Thursday evening, November 8th and celebrate this life-changing organization with us at Hard Rock, Atlantic City.
Bret Micheals, who lives with T1D, will be our special guest. He will perform iconic songs, share his stories of living with T1D and help us honor those making a positive impact in the world of diabetes. Diabetes, whether type one or type two, touches almost every family somehow.
Diabetes Training Camp (DTC) Foundation is a cause that is very close to our hearts and prevalent in our family. Isabel has lived with Type One Diabetes for over 40 years, pricking her fingers, giving herself insulin and managing her blood sugars 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Her sister Katie and brother Jimmy also live with the challenges of T1D. In fact, between the three of them, collectively they have lived with the life-threatening disease for 113 years. Each of them had life-changing experiences at Diabetes Training Camp.
DTC Foundation’s mission is to inspire, motivate and educate by delivering unique and customized programs and coaching that empower the community of people with diabetes to thrive. But, this organization does much more than that. At DTC, people living with diabetes are taught how to take their lives back. They are taught that diabetes does NOT need to limit them. They learn that ANYTHING is possible and that they can live the life they want to live. They take control of their diabetes instead of letting their diabetes control them.
DTC Foundation has given over $65,000 in scholarships to their adult camps and subsidizes the cost for all campers to attend their programming. They are committed to creating more programming to reach more people living with diabetes, both type 1 and type 2. Funds raised at our event will go to continuing to offer scholarships to those who may not be able to afford the cost of services and to developing more life-changing and magical programming for the community of people living with diabetes.
Diabetes is an epidemic which is continuing to grow with little support. DTC Foundation is that support. More so, it is a place where people challenging diabetes daily can and will succeed, where they will find a community of support and they will learn that they are capable of doing more than they ever imagined. Please join us this November, which also happens to be National Diabetes Awareness Month.
